Celine Dion surprised her fans by giving an unexpected performance during a very rare public appearance.
The singer appeared at the TGL Event and she managed to make Tiger Woods smile on the green with her voice.
Dion revealed in December 2022 she had been diagnosed with a “very rare neurological disorder”. She suffers from Stiff Person Syndrome and it has severely limited her public appearances.
Despite this, she stepped out at the SoFi Arena in Florida alongside her three children to see the golfing action. There was then a special moment as she performed a duet with ESPN’s Marty Smith.
During an interview, Smith asked Dion which song best represents her golf game, she laughed and said: “The one that comes to mind…I would say…Near….far….wherever you are”.
As Smith joined in, she changed the lyrics to the iconic song ‘My Heart Will Go On’ to: “I believe that my ball will go onnnn”.
“You’re not bad,” she told Smith who added: “I’m going to come to Vegas for the residency!”
Celine Dion is ‘doing really great’
Earlier in the interview, Dion said: “I’m doing really great, thank you so much for asking, how about everybody here? How are you guys?”, encouraging the crowd to make some noise.
“Oh come on you can do better than that, how’s everybody doing?! All right!”.
She then talked about how it felt to be at the event with her children.
“It’s pretty impressive,” she said. “We’ve been watching on TV. I’m very proud, I have my three kids here with me today, the three of them are golfers. They’re very passionate about the game.
“I used to play golf, when I had the time. Then I had kids, then had to have a break, and here I am. But it’s a great passion as a mother to see my own children to play this game which, I think, has so much etiquette.
“It’s such a beautiful and a great game. You can be in competition with yourself, you can play with your best friend, you can play with your mom, play with your neighbors. It’s such a beautiful game and to be here in this TGL environment is magical.”
