Ceedee Lamb’s anger changes the Cowboys’ mindset and could sink the Giants

CeeDee Lamb is entering Week 2 with a point to prove.

The Dallas Cowboys wide receiver, who has been one of the league’s most reliable playmakers, endured a frustrating outing in the team’s 24-20 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Three dropped passes, including a perfectly placed deep ball from Dak Prescott, prevented Dallas from seizing momentum. For Lamb, the performance was uncharacteristic.

“I can’t point fingers at anybody else. I take full accountability and everything else that comes with that,” Lamb said after the game. “As a player, I’ve prayed for moments like that, and for the ball to come my way. To not come up with it, it stings a little bit.”

Even with the setback, Lamb has been nothing short of elite across the past season, piling up 107 catches, 1,359 yards, and nine touchdowns.

His consistency has cemented him as the Cowboys‘ offensive centerpiece, particularly as the team adjusts to life without defensive star Micah Parsons. Offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer stressed that the Week 1 defeat was not about one player.

“CeeDee‘s going to be fine. What a great player,” Schottenheimer said. “This was a team defeat, and we own that. We understand where we can go as a football team… We’re all about winning, and we didn’t win tonight, and therefore it’s not good enough.”

A familiar opponent and a prime opportunity

Lamb will get his chance to rebound against a defense he knows well. In 10 career matchups with the New York Giants, he has averaged 6.1 receptions and 85.9 yards per game, with five total touchdowns. His track record suggests he thrives in this rivalry, and with New York‘s secondary still reeling from a poor showing against the Washington Commanders, the stage is set for another big night.

Inside the Cowboys‘ locker room, there is a belief that Lamb‘s frustration could fuel a career-best game.

An anonymous source close to the team predicted, “Oh, he’s pissed. I feel really bad for the Giants this Sunday. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he (CeeDee Lamb) goes for 250 yards and 4 TDs.”

Lamb himself has hinted at the mentality he is carrying into Sunday.

“I’m willing to do whatever to go out there and have my presence felt,” he said, adding, “I’m all for the team winning if you can’t tell by now.”
