Carlos Rodon’s wife responds after Yankees pitcher criticized for loss against Red Sox

In the world of MLB, there is no rest day or compassion from social media, not even for the most outstanding players like Carlos Rodon, the New York Yankees pitcher. After a difficult outing on June 15 against the Boston Red Sox, his wife Ashley Rodon took to Instagram to respond to those who crossed the line. Her response, full of character and defensiveness, went viral and ignited the debate about respect for athletes

Carlos Rodon allowed three earned runs in five innings, with four runs in total on seven hits, two walks and just four strikeouts. Although his performance was not the best, it was a night far from a catastrophe, especially considering that days before he threw 7 innings of one run, eight strikeouts and no walks in Cleveland, showing again his dominant level after having an ERA of 2.49 in his last four games.

Ashley Rondon’s response against Instagram users

After the game, social media exploded with fierce criticism. But it was not only Carlos who was targeted: misogynistic messages and even suggestions that he should “take his own life” reached his inbox. For Ashley “that crossed the line”.

Ashley Rondon shared screenshots of those messages: “5 innings… 3 ER. Not his best day, but do you really have to go to the cap? SHESH.”

With those words, he showed the familiar wall that accompanies the pitcher: not only defensive, but aware that he does not pitch alone.

Carlos Rodon and his MLB season

Carlos Rodon was signed by the Yankees in 2023, and after a difficult start, he has shown his quality. In 2025, he has an 8-3 record with a 2.49 ERA and solid numbers as a pitcher for the New York Yankees. His family is an important pillar: Ashley Rodon, his three children and him form a close-knit nucleus.

Yankees and Rondon’s next moves

After that tough outing, Rodon will have another chance to come back stronger. If he maintains the level he showed in Cleveland, he can become the mainstay of the rotation for a strong run in the American League East. His wife Ashley Rodon’s message is pretty clear: they will not be intimidated by anything or anyone

Ashley Rodon did not just counter haters on social media, it was a reminder that behind MLB there are people, mothers, wives, children and feelings

Ashley stresses that fans can get frustrated, but they should never attack the player directly or their family. As she herself said, “we’re not perfect, but we’re human beings”
