Canelo Alvarez’s trainer predicts a brutal knockout over Terence Crawford in September

Saul “Canelo” Alvarez is gearing up for one of the toughest challenges of his career. On September 12, he will finally square off against Terence Crawford in a highly anticipated bout that experts predict will be an all-out war between two elite fighters.

All except legendary trainer Eddy Reynoso, who boldly predicts a knockout victory for his fighter.

Alvarez vs. Crawford is one of the most awaited matchups by both fans and media. Crawford, an undefeated fighter across four weight classes with an impressive record of 41-0 (31 KOs), is widely regarded as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the sport.

Despite being the undisputed middleweight champion, Alvarez’s lackluster performance against William Scull in early May raised questions about his form. Even so, Reynoso remains undeterred and is convinced that Canelo will knock Crawford out.

Reynoso’s bold prediction

Speaking with Elie Seckbach of EsNews, Reynoso made it clear that he sees a knockout as inevitable:

“We’re going to win by knockout,” he declared when asked about the fight. However, when pressed on which round the KO would come, Reynoso declined to specify.

“Whichever round it may be, but we’re going to knock him out this time.”

Acknowledging Crawford’s skill, Reynoso admitted:

“Crawford is a tremendous fighter-very complete-but that day, you’re going to see a different Canelo.”

With this statement, Reynoso dismissed concerns surrounding Alvarez’s underwhelming fight against Scull, where critics pointed to his unusually low punch output.

Even Alvarez himself called the fight “boring,” having thrown just 152 punches compared to Scull’s 293. Looking ahead to his showdown with Crawford, Canelo promised:

“I hope September brings a different kind of fight.”

Can Crawford overcome Alvarez?

While Reynoso is brimming with confidence, some experts believe Crawford has a legitimate path to victory.

Former trainer Jeff Mayweather believes Bud’s best shot is keeping his distance and avoiding a slugfest with Alvarez.

Trainer Derek “Bozy” Ennis echoed this sentiment, saying that if Crawford can frustrate Canelo and control the pace, he could pull off an upset victory.

Predicting a winner remains difficult, but one thing is certain-if the fight delivers, the fans will be the real winners.
