On Saturday, May 3, Canelo Alvarez will put his four super middleweight titles on the line against Cuban William Scull, in what will be his first fight of 2025

The Mexican boxer has not fought since September 14, when he defeated American Edgar Berlanga by unanimous decision at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, to retain his titles

For the fight with “El Indomable”, the main novelty is that it will not be held in the United States or Mexico as has been the case until now in his professional career

Where is the Canelo Alvarez vs William Scull fight?

The fight will take place at the ANB Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, which has a capacity of 15,000 to 20,000 spectators. It has a retractable roof and a spectacular four-sided screen at the top

Due to the time difference, the fight will start at 21:00 Mexican time on Saturday, May 3. In Saudi Arabia it will be at 06:00

Why is Canelo fighting in Saudi Arabia?

Last February, Canelo signed a four-fight contract in Saudi Arabia with Sheikh Turki Alalshikh in exchange for $400 million

Of these four fights, three will be held in Mexico. The remaining one will take place in the United States on September 13 in Las Vegas, as is customary to celebrate Mexico’s Independence Day

By 2026, May and September will not have the Mexican fighting. February and October would be the months chosen for the last two fights of the contract

Canelo Alvarez’s professional record

Santos Saul Alvarez Barragan has a professional boxing record of 62 wins (39 knockouts), two losses and two draws in 66 fights to date

He has not lost since May 7, 2022, against Russian fighter Dmitry Bivol (unanimous decision), and is the current WBC, WBA, WBO and IBF super middleweight world champion.
