We haven’t even reached the month of September, when the fight between Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Terence Crawford will take place, and already another fight is being talked about on social media, as the Mexican has another challenger who is sure that he will send the undisputed super middleweight champion to the canvas.
The fight will take place at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, home of the NFL’s Raiders, according to Ring Magazine. The Mexican champion will leave his usual MGM Grand Garden Arena where he has starred in his stellar fights in the month of September.
Hamzah Sheeraz challenged Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez
What boxer wouldn’t want to have the chance to fight Canelo, especially during Mexico’s patriotic month? Take Edgar Berlanga for example: despite losing by unanimous decision to Alvarez, the 28-year-old boxer became popular. Now, Hamzah Sheeraz seems to be on a similar path.
The 26-year-old Briton will face Edgar Berlanga on July 12 at the Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens. However, before the fight, His Excellency Turki Alalshikh revealed a big plan for Sheeraz. If he manages to overcome Berlanga in the upcoming fight, Canelo will be his next stop. Since then, Sheeraz has made a moving confession.
Egar Berlanga is a “7” as a boxer, according to Hamzah Sheeraz
Hamzah Sheeraz, on the other hand, does not share that enthusiasm. “I’d give him a 7,” Sheeraz told The Ring when asked to rate his next opponent from 1 to 10. In a few days, Sheeraz (21-0-1, 17 KOs) will have the chance to prove that Berlanga is not as good as many – mainly himself – think.
Throughout the build-up, Brooklyn’s Berlanga (23-1, 18 KOs) has been confident, walking like a man completely sure of his superiority. While he has acknowledged that Sheeraz is a solid and well-rounded boxer, the 28-year-old contender insists the fight will be a mere formality.
