Canelo Alvarez gets welcomed like a true king in Saudi Arabia and gets his “flowers”

There’s a reason Canelo Alvarez has been dubbed “The Face of Boxing“. Having assumed the throne at the pinnacle of the sport since the late-2010s, Alvarez has refused to relinquish his role as the top draw in boxing. That continues to this day, despite some fans souring on his performances as of late.

Now with a roadmap for his next few fights, all eyes are once again on Canelo. First up on his packed schedule is an undisputed title fight against William Scull, the long-standing mandatory challenger who will finally get his shot at the Mexican. Due to his deal with Turki Alalshikh, the fight will happen in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Alvarez will be in unfamiliar territory, but he was welcomed with open arms like he was coming home when he landed there on Monday.

In a lovely gesture, Alvarez was handed a bouquet of flowers once he arrived in Riyadh. Fans noticed the symbolism of Alvarez finally “getting his flowers“. Alvarez then took pictures with his entourage, including long-time trainer Eddy Reynoso.

Alvarez was decked out in a cream-colored outfit, donning rose-tinted glasses and a branded hat. Alvarez then did some shadow-boxing for the cameras. He looks as loose as ever.

Alvarez is looking to regain all of the belts at 168 pounds. Canelo was stripped of the IBF title last year after refusing to fight Scull, who was the mandatory. Canelo knows how much it means to be undisputed, and he wants to be back on top for good.
