Retirement is approaching for Canelo Alvarez, and the Mexican knows it. At 34 years of age, he has dominated boxing like few others, accumulating titles in four different divisions and leaving an indelible mark. The reality is that time does not forgive and he knows that he has little time left to retire.

Saul “Canelo” Alvarez has hinted since last year at a possible retirement, and this time it seems that there is already a date for when he decides to hang up his gloves. The Mexican signed a contract with Riyadh Season, with these commitments, it is clear that Canelo will continue to fight in the next two years.

However, it seems that after this agreement with Turki Alalshikh, the Mexican could end his professional career in boxing.

Canelo knows he has very little left

In an interview with TMZ, Saul once again hinted at retirement from boxing, comments that have left some concern among his loyal fans.

“I’ve fought everybody; I’ve fought the best. I’ve won many titles in different weight classes,” said Canelo. “I’ve been the pound-for-pound king, fighter of the year; in everything. If we talk about money, it’s never enough. But it’s not just about money. It’s about enjoying everything,” said the Mexican.

“I still enjoy boxing. That’s why I’m here. But if we talk about money, it’s never enough. But I don’t think about making a specific amount of money and then retiring; no. I’m going to do my thing, and then, at 37 or 38 years old, it’s time to retire,” said Canelo.

According to various sources, the Mexican will earn approximately $400 million with his contract with Turki.

Mexican ready to start his first fight in Saudi Arabia

The first fight of Canelo‘s deal with Riyadh Season will be against William Scull on May 3 for the IBF belt, a victory would once again make him the undisputed 168-pound champion.

If all goes well, Saul would face Terence Crawford in September, from Las Vegas. In that scenario, he already has all of 2025 set aside, his next candidates would be for 2026, which would be his last fights as a professional.
