Caitlin Clark suffers a shy moment when she can’t keep up with an energetic Kelsey Plum on Team USA

At a recent Team USA practice session in Miami, a lighthearted moment between two of women’s basketball’s biggest personalities drew plenty of attention. As the squad prepares for the FIBA Women’s World Cup qualifying tournament, cameras captured a playful interaction that revealed a more relaxed side of Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Plum.

The scene unfolded as the national team arrived for a training session. Plum, a veteran guard known for her vibrant personality, was seen moving to music with obvious energy and rhythm.

Clark, attending her first full practice with Team USA following an injury-plagued 2025 season, walked in shortly behind her and opted not to match the spirited moves.

Fans watching the video couldn’t help but notice the contrast. Plum‘s lively entrance was met with joy and smiles, but Clark‘s more reserved response quickly became the focal point for many observers.

Plum went as far as to greet her with a playful pinch on the side, further highlighting the difference in energy between the two players.

Responses on social media ranged from amusement to endearment, with many fans joking about the dynamic between the two stars.

One commenter wrote, “Aww Clark trying hard to avoid dancing while Plum bringing the vibe,” while others tagged them as a fun duo to watch. Some even speculated they had become close friends after the moment naturally circulated online.

Clark’s return to the spotlight

Clark‘s appearance in that lighthearted moment came after a difficult season.

The Fever guard was limited to just 13 games in 2025 due to groin injuries and a bone bruise that kept her sidelined for much of the year. Now fully healthy, she has been named to the Team USA roster for the upcoming qualifiers in San Juan, Puerto Rico, marking a significant step in her recovery.

Her teammates greeted her with support as she arrived in Miami, with many fans and fellow players cheering her comeback. That enthusiastic reception underscored the excitement around her return to competitive basketball after months away.

Plum, a seasoned presence on the national team, has also been a focal point during practice. The Sparks guard’s animated presence on and off the court naturally draws attention and helps energize those around her.

Positive vibes despite past moments

The interaction between Clark and Plum is all the more noteworthy considering a moment involving the two last season that drew attention during the WNBA All-Star Game.

At that time, Plum appeared to make a comment that many interpreted as being at odds with Clark, though she later described the remark as a “bad joke.”

Their exchange at the recent Team USA practice, however, suggests there is no lingering tension between the two. Instead it highlights the camaraderie taking shape among elite players as they prepare to represent their country on the international stage.

For fans, the shy reaction from Clark as she trailed behind Plum only added to the charm of the moment, showcasing the personality and human side of elite athletes in the spotlight.
