Caitlin Clark has been one of the most acclaimed guests on Jason and Travis Kelce‘s famous sports podcast, ‘New Heights’.
In her most recent and second appearance, the WNBA and Indiana Fever star discussed her love of the NFL and revealed her thoughts on veteran Philip Rivers’ brief return to the Indianapolis Colts.
Clark did not hide her concern for Rivers
The two-time All-Star Game player spoke with the Chiefs tight end and former Eagles center in the episode released on December 31.
There, Clark said that, in addition to being a fan of the Chiefs (who were eliminated from the playoffs), she also likes Drake Maye and will probably support the Patriots, although “the Rams are good too.” She also made it clear that Josh Allen and his team are not her favorites: “I hate the [Buffalo] Bills, ugh,” Clark said.
Meanwhile, Caitlin also had something to say about the 44-year-old quarterback’s return to the league due to injuries to Daniel Jones and Anthony Richardson, admitting to being very surprised by Rivers’ performance in his three games, but acknowledging that she feared for his health:
“You’ve got to give him a lot of credit, and he was pretty good,” Clark said. “I was worried he’s like going to pop an Achilles.”
She also admitted that when she heard about Philip’s return, the news shocked her so much that she thought it wasn’t true: “Obviously, when I first saw that online, I was like ‘oh, that’s got to be fake news’ because there’s so much fake news out there these days,” Clark said.
Unfortunately, Clark knows about injuries: during his second year in the league, he averaged 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 8.8 assists, and 1.6 steals in the only 13 games he was able to play due to injuries to his quadriceps, ankle, and groin.
“It was a long process to just get back on the court, because when you have the groins and the quads and whatever you’re dealing with, it’s like you don’t run for a while. So, like, it’s weird, like, learning to run again in a way,” said the 23-year-old star.
Meanwhile, Rivers had already played 16 years of his career from 2004 to 2020 before his return this year and had been selected to the Pro Bowl eight times. After retiring from the Colts following their playoff elimination, the 44-year-old has been touted as a coaching candidate. Will we see him at the helm of a team?
