Legendary boxer Eric “Butterbean” Esch surprised the boxing world by declaring that he is ready to return to the ring

At 58 years old, he said he felt in the best shape of his life and mentioned that he would like to face Mike Tyson or Jake Paul in an exhibition fight.

Why Mike Tyson?

Butterbean considers a fight with Tyson to be a historic event. Both were boxing icons in the 1990s and, although they never faced each other in their professional era, the interest in seeing them share the ring remains. Butterbean praised Tyson’s career, but said he could offer him a “fun and powerful” fight.

What about Jake Paul?

The name of Jake Paul was also mentioned as a viable option. Butterbean acknowledged the media impact of the YouTuber-turned-boxer and said it would be interesting to measure himself against someone from a different generation

In his own words, he has lost weight, improved his health and trains regularly. His goal is not to return to the professional circuit, but to take part in an exhibition fight that will entertain the fans and allow him to end his career in style.

What’s next for Butterbean?

Although there is no official confirmation of any fight, Butterbean’s statements have already generated reactions on social networks. Boxing fans are divided between nostalgia and skepticism, but all agree that it would be a spectacle worth seeing if it materializes.
