Buffalo Bills set to help Josh Allen with move for out-of-favor Philadelphia Eagles ace

The Buffalo Bills are being tipped to make a decisive move to support Josh Allen, with growing speculation that a blockbuster trade for Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown could reshape their offense.

Brown has cut a visibly frustrated figure in Philadelphia during the 2025 NFL season, and despite recent success, his long-term future with the Eagles has become a recurring league-wide talking point.

Trade chatter has intensified following the reigning Super Bowl champion’s exit to the San Francisco 49ers, and league insiders increasingly view Brown as a premium asset who could be moved if the right offer emerges.

Philadelphia failed to defend its Super Bowl crown after losing at the first hurdle in the NFC Wild Card game, and that disappointment has only amplified scrutiny around internal chemistry and roster direction.

And now Brown‘s situation has become one of the offseason’s most persistent storylines, with rival teams monitoring his availability and weighing whether his talent outweighs the potential disruption.

The Bills are also coming off playoff disappointment to the Denver Broncos in the AFC Divisional Round, and questions remain about whether Allen has enough high-end help at wide receiver to consistently compete for a title.

Now an ESPN NFL report has predicted the Bills and Eagles as logical trade partners, although any deal would likely occur after June 1, when Philadelphia could save roughly $7 million.

“The Bills have to upgrade there – their best receiver is Khalil Shakir,” an NFL scout said. “Who is a nice player but he’s not a top guy.

“Brown is an immediate upgrade and he’s still young [turning 29 in June]. And the Eagles can build the passing game around DeVonta Smith and a high draft pick.”

For Buffalo, the appeal is straightforward. Brown would instantly become Allen‘s clear No. 1 target, providing size, physicality, and proven production in high-pressure moments.

Could the Chiefs target A.J. Brown acquisition?

Even amid reported tension in Philadelphia, Brown still surpassed 1,000 yards and scored seven touchdowns, underlining that performance has not dipped with age or circumstance.

And while Buffalo is viewed as a strong fit, the Kansas City Chiefs have also been mentioned as a potential suitor for similar reasons, although financial and cultural factors complicate that possibility.

The Chiefs entered last season confident in their receiver group, but injuries and inconsistency derailed plans, leaving the offense short of reliable playmakers as Patrick Mahomes struggled on the team’s way to a 6-11 record.

Their worst season in a decade, there’s little doubt that adding a proven star would help stabilize things and offer echoes of the dynamic from 2021, when Mahomes, Kelce and Tyreek Hill worked under Eric Bienemy as offensive coordinator.

Yet Brown represents a risk, particularly for a team that traditionally values locker-room harmony as his emotional transparency has drawn attention before, and Kansas City may hesitate to introduce that dynamic as Mahomes works back from an LCL and ACL injury.

Still, Brown‘s production remains unquestioned, and few receivers offer his blend of power and explosiveness, which is why betting markets continue to include the Chiefs.
