Buffalo Bills fans call for Pro Bowl player to have his snaps scaled back despite 3-0 start

On Thursday night, the Buffalo Bills beat the Miami Dolphins and improved to 3-0 to start the season. Many expected a blowout, but a feisty Dolphins team made things a bit difficult for the Bills. But Buffalo showed its class in the end, running away with the victory and winning by 10 points.

Josh Allen looked like Josh Allen. James Cook looked like James Cook. And the offense got contributions from Dalton Kincaid and Khalil Shakir. On the defensive side of the ball, it wasn’t all great though. The Dolphins moved the ball down the field consistently, which didn’t happen through the first two weeks of the season. But the defensive unit made enough stops to let the offense put up enough points for the win.

Joey Bosa plays 87% of snaps against Dolphins, which worries Bills fans

In the aftermath of the game, Bills fans have signaled one player who should see his snaps reduced going forward. Joey Bosa, the big offseason signing at pass-rusher, played 87% of the snaps against the Dolphins. Fans want to see those numbers scaled back going forward, but it isn’t due to his performance.

Bosa currently ranks as the second-best EDGE in the entire league, according to Pro Football Focus. Some Bills fans are already taking a long-term approach, though. They want to save him for the postseason.

“I would love to see Bosa sparingly. Do not wear him out. We will NEED him through playoffs.“

That 87% number was much higher than the first two weeks. Bosa played 69% of snaps in Week 1 and 55% in Week 2. Those numbers are more along the lines of what the Bills coaching staff would prefer.

They just happened to need him more on Thursday night due to the close nature of the game and the Dolphins employing more of a pass-first attack. That won’t necessarily be the case every week.
