Browns star Myles Garrett attends Lakers game with Chloe Kim as speeding case ends with small fine

The seats near the court at Crypto.com Arena often attract familiar faces, and on Tuesday night one of them was Myles Garrett.

The Cleveland Browns defensive star showed up courtside with Olympic snowboard champion Chloe Kim for the Los Angeles Lakers vs. Minnesota Timberwolves game. The outing came only hours after a speeding citation tied to a February traffic stop in Ohio was resolved with a fine rather than a court appearance.

According to records from Wayne County Municipal Court, the charge was lowered below reckless driving. That meant Garrett did not have to appear before a judge and instead paid a $157.50 fine to close the case.

Later that night, the NFL standout and the Olympic star were watching basketball together in Los Angeles.

Kim shared a few snapshots from the evening on Instagram, including a selfie with Garrett from their seats. The images quickly circulated among fans of both athletes.

From Olympic slopes to NBA courtside

The Lakers game also served as a small reunion moment for the couple after a busy stretch of competition and travel.

About a month earlier, Garrett had flown to Italy to support Kim during the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina. Kim competed in the women’s halfpipe while continuing a career that has already produced multiple Olympic medals and world titles.

Seeing them together at an NBA arena was a reminder that their schedules rarely overlap. Garrett spends most of the year focused on football while Kim moves between winter competitions, training camps, and sponsorship commitments.

Still, the appearance brought two major sports worlds together in one place. Courtside seats at Crypto.com Arena have hosted countless celebrities, but seeing a reigning NFL defensive star and one of snowboarding’s most recognizable athletes sharing a quiet night off stood out.

Inside the speeding citation

The traffic incident that led to the court case happened on February 21, just after 1:35 a.m. in Wayne County, Ohio.

Authorities said Garrett was driving a green 2024 Porsche when a deputy clocked the vehicle at more than 100 mph. After reviewing the situation, the officer issued a citation for 94 mph in a 70-mph zone, a lesser violation.

The case was later reduced again, which allowed Garrett to resolve it with a fine.

Public records indicate that the citation is Garrett’s ninth speeding ticket in Ohio since joining the Browns in 2017.

Garrett’s dominant season still leading the headlines

While the traffic stop created a brief off-field headline, Garrett’s performance on the field continues to shape how his season is remembered.

In February he was named NFL Defensive Player of the Year, an award determined by a national panel of journalists organized by the Associated Press.

Garrett finished the season with 23 sacks, setting a new franchise record for the Cleveland Browns and surpassing the previous mark of 22.5. Analysts across NFL coverage pointed to his relentless pressure on opposing quarterbacks as the defining element of Cleveland’s defense.

Kim celebrated the moment publicly as well, reposting the league’s announcement and reacting with the caption “Soooo major!”.

The recognition highlighted how both athletes are operating at the top of their respective sports at the same time.

A rare pause between two elite careers

For Garrett, the coming months will revolve around preparing for another NFL season with the Cleveland Browns. He remains the centerpiece of a defense that the organization hopes will carry it deeper into postseason contention.

Kim’s calendar, meanwhile, continues to revolve around global snowboarding events and the momentum from the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Moments like a simple courtside date are rare when two global sports careers move this quickly. On Tuesday night in Los Angeles, though, that is exactly what happened.

Reporting is based on publicly available records from Wayne County Municipal Court, NFL Honors voting results reported by the Associated Press, and images shared publicly on Chloe Kim’s Instagram account from the Lakers vs. Timberwolves game.
