Bronny James’ bold message after embarrassing Wembanyama in the paint

Parents will always try to help their children, no matter their age. They will keep a close eye on them, and despite criticism, they remain attentive to their offspring. This is the case of LeBron James with his eldest son, Bronny.

Since he arrived at the Los Angeles Lakers, there have been many questions suggesting that there was excessive support, first for him to join the franchise, and later to earn minutes alongside his father.

Because of this, the road remains complicated for Bronny, but from time to time he produces unique moments based on his talent and what he might eventually offer the Los Angeles franchise.

It is precisely these types of key plays that make fans and the media take notice of him and highlight his own path rather than the surname he carries. In the matchup against the San Antonio Spurs, he made a move that drew headlines and conversation.

Bronny James shines against the Spurs’ giant, Victor Wembanyama

Although the Spurs’ biggest star, Frenchman Victor Wembanyama, had a dominant night against the Lakers, he also struggled on one play against Bronny James in the paint.

The French player dazzled with 37 points in the first half, but in a one-on-one battle against LeBron’s son, he ended up losing in humiliating fashion.

The King’s son needed just one play to steal the show that night. The move he made against the European star immediately went viral. About it, the player said:

It’s something else for sure. I’m one of the smaller guys on the floor guarding the tallest guy in the league. It’s definitely a challenge, but I’m up for anything

Bronny James

Near the three-point line, despite the height difference, James never felt inferior and knew exactly how to attack him, eventually drawing a foul on the Spurs player.

Yeah, I’d say defensively. I mean, that’s the role that I want to excel at, especially on this team. We have a lot of guys, Luka, LeBron, and AR. So, those guys can go get buckets, and whenever we need them.

Bronny James

Added the legend’s son.

The young player is trying to take advantage of the few opportunities he receives with the Lakers and wants to prove he is a defensive piece who can add real value to the team.

Bronny James’ stint with the South Bay Lakers in the G League

The Lakers have sent the young guard to the South Bay Lakers of the G League, where he has continued his development.

  • 17 points
  • 62.5% field goal shooting
  • 46.7% from three-point range

These are the numbers James Jr. has produced in that competition. For Lakers head coach JJ Redick, he is still not a player to be considered a regular part of the rotation off the bench.

It has been repeatedly said that the Los Angeles franchise wants to move on from Bronny James and cut ties with his father on the roster, which would free up the 15th spot to pursue a more established player.

The numbers have not been kind to the youngster. He averaged the lowest figure among team members, just 6.7. Between the G League and the NBA, he has not found his rhythm. In response, his father LeBron spoke out.

The kid’s been putting in a lot of work over the last couple of years being a pro, and when he gets an opportunity, he’s trying to make the most of it.

LeBron James

Carrying the enormous weight of his surname on the same team as his father seems to have been a mistake. He might have been better off trying his luck elsewhere instead of appearing to benefit from a nepotistic move that placed him on his father’s roster.

At this point, Bronny has played only one game as a starter, averaging 1.9 points. It is clear offense is not his strength, but he might still turn things around and become the defensive player the Lakers urgently need, the kind JJ Redick could begin to trust.
