British Tommy Fleetwood set a record on the PGA Tour that proves winning a tournament is not the most important thing

Tommy Fleetwood has carved out a unique spot in PGA Tour history, becoming the first player to rake in over $25 million in on-course earnings without ever hoisting a trophy. As of March 18, 2025, the Englishman’s career PGA Tour earnings hit $25,186,842, according to StatMuse, all without a single victory in 132 starts. That’s a jaw-dropping feat for a guy who’s been oh-so-close so many times, and it’s got fans and analysts alike marveling at his consistency-and maybe scratching their heads a bit too.

Fleetwood’s journey to this milestone is a testament to his knack for stacking top finishes. Think 22 top-fives-more than anyone in the last 40 years without a win, per Justin Ray of The Athletic-and eight top-tens in the 2022-23 season alone. “It’s better than being nowhere near,” he said after tying for third at the 2023 FedEx St. Jude Championship, where he pocketed $1.16 million and crossed the $20 million mark, per SB Nation. Now, with steady cash from events like his T-3 at the 2024 Masters ($1 million) and a runner-up at the 2023 RBC Canadian Open ($981,000), he’s pushed past $25 million.

Sure, he’s a six-time champ on the DP World Tour-think 2022 Nedbank Golf Challenge-but the PGA Tour’s been a different beast. “I’ve had my chances before and it’s not happened for me,” Fleetwood told Golfweek after a T-3 at the 2023 Valspar Championship, adding, “I don’t plan on winning once-I’d like to win multiple times.” That near-miss at the Canadian Open, where Nick Taylor’s playoff heroics stole the show, still stings. Yet, his bank account’s not complaining-those runner-up checks add up fast.

PGA Tour’s winless wonder

What’s wild is how he’s done it in an era of sky-high purses. Posts on X buzz about his “$50 million career” when you toss in his 30.6 million from the European Tour, but the PGA Tour’s $25 million is the stat grabbing headlines.

“He’s made $50 million!” gushed a Fore Play podcast host, per Sportskeeda, marveling at his winless haul. Compare that to legends like Ben Crenshaw, who earned $3 million with 19 wins-modern golf’s a whole new money game.

Fleetwood’s not sweating the “winless” tag too hard. With a world ranking hovering around No. 10 and a fanbase that adores his grit, he’s still chasing that PGA Tour breakthrough. Will it be the U.S. Open or a Florida Swing stop? His wallet’s already a winner-now it’s just about that elusive trophy.
