The New York market pressure is one of the toughest in sports, and now Bo Bichette is experiencing it firsthand. TheNew York Mets star arrived on a massive contract, but his start to the 2026 MLB season has not gone as expected for him or the fans.

He was the Mets’ top offseason signing, yet he has struggled through his first three games. On Sunday, he went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts in a loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates. Overall, he has just one hit and one RBI in 14 at-bats.

Boos for Bo Bichette

After his third strikeout against the Pirates, fans at Citi Field loudly booed the former Toronto Blue Jays player as he walked back to the dugout.

Through the first three games, Bichette has already accumulated eight strikeouts. Instead of support, the crowd made it clear: fans demand results and patience is running thin.

“If anything, I thought it took too long. I get it. I thought my at-bats were terrible, too,” Bichette admitted after the game, acknowledging his poor offensive performance and aligning with the fans’ frustration.

Now, the New York Mets will begin a three-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals, where Bichette will look for a bounce-back performance after signing his three-year $126 million contract. With that level of investment, the pressure in New York was always going to come if he didn’t deliver.
