Bo Bichette becomes a good trade option for the Yankees

The Toronto Blue Jays are on a three-game losing streak, which significantly reduces their chances of fighting for a better place in the American League East.

The New York Yankees, on the other hand, remain firmly at the top of the division and already have a six-game lead over their nearest pursuer, the Tampa Bay Rays.

Toronto, with a 25-27 record, is seven games behind the Manhattan Mules, so Toronto could start thinking about the future and make the switch from one of its stars to two interesting prospects.

The trade option between Toronto and Yankees

The Canadian team’s All-Star shortstop Bo Bichette is set to leave the franchise in his final year of contract and ahead of the July 31 trade deadline, and get a good reward with a trade.

In fact, the Yankees’ infield needs could send Bichette to the Big Apple to play third base in exchange for three of the Bronx Bombers’ top prospects: shortstop George Lombard Jr, outfielder Spencer Jones and right-handed pitcher Ben Hess.

MLB analyst Garrett Kerman gave his opinion: “For the Yankees, Bichette fills a critical need, whether at shortstop or third base, depending on how they set up their infield.

“It immediately improves their lineup and provides a powerful right-handed hitter for the postseason. If New York really wants to keep up with the elite of the league, acquiring Bichette is a bold decision that could define their season,” Kerman said.

“The proposed deal also aligns with Toronto’s recent strategy. After securing Guerrero Jr. as the franchise’s figurehead, the Blue Jays can now restructure their team around him while incorporating top-tier young talent,” he added. “Lombard Jr. and Jones could be MLB-ready in two seasons, giving Toronto a new, dynamic core to build around.”

In New York, general manager Brian Cashman will surely be interested in Bichette’s services before the deadline, and could be especially motivated to make a big splash for a player like Bichette in the Bronx Bombers’ quest to win their first World Series since 2009.

Bo Bichette’s numbers

This season, Bichette is hitting .275 with four home runs and 25 RBIs, while lifetime, his batting average is a respectable .289 with 97 home runs and 368 RBIs, after playing in MLB since 2019, always with Toronto.

Bichette’s statistics could complement the Yankees’ offense, which lost its third baseman Oswaldo Cabrera for a long time due to an ankle fracture, so he has a good chance to play for the Bronx Bombers.
