Ashton Jeanty has had a forgettable start with the Las Vegas Raiders and has been advised by Marshawn Lynch

There was no doubt that expectations were high for the Las Vegas Raiders’ home debut, especially after starting Week 1 with a road victory against the New England Patriots. However, at Allegiant Stadium, they were outplayed by the Los Angeles Chargers, 20-9, in a game where Geno Smith was intercepted three times and Ashton Jeanty has yet to shine.

After a spectacular performance in Week 1 against the Kansas City Chiefs, Justin Herbert once again showed he is off to a solid start this season. Against the Raiders, he threw for 242 yards and two touchdowns, including a 60-yard bomb to Quentin Johnson.

The Raiders’ defense tried to keep the game close, but stopping Justin Herbert proved too difficult. They had some success at times, but Geno Smith’s interceptions and Ashton Jeanty’s inability to gain yards ultimately crushed the Raiders’ hopes.

Marshawn Lynch’s advice to Ashton Jeanty

Expectations were sky-high for Ashton Jeanty, the Raiders’ first-round pick in last year’s draft, who at times was even compared to Saquon Barkley. The pressure was already intense for the Boise State product. After two games, Jeanty has yet to make a major impact.

Through two games, Ashton Jeanty has 81 rushing yards, an average of 2.7 yards per carry, and a long of 13 yards. He has one touchdown, which he scored in Week 1 against the Patriots, but otherwise, he hasn’t shown anything extraordinary.

NFL legend and former running back Marshawn Lynch offered Jeanty some advice: “Just keep improving on the little things: run fakes on play-action plays, lift your legs properly on runs, just all the little things.”

The pressure will only grow for Ashton Jeanty, especially if he continues being called the “next Saquon Barkley.” For now, the first two games are behind him, and the next challenge will be facing the Washington Commanders.
