Media day for the rematch between Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbievhas given plenty to talk about. Both Russian boxers are already focused on their clash on Saturday, February 22, which will mark their second fight after their first encounter in October last year.
The future of both will largely depend on the outcome of this weekend. Rumours suggest that the winner will face David Benavidez. The possibility of a rematch against Canelo Alvarez is still up in the air, but Turki will surely put pressure on him to do so in the future.
One of the most indifferent about his future is Artur Beterbiev, who shows little interest and only has his mind on his next fight against Bivol. To the point of belittling Canelo and having no interest in fighting him
Beterbiev is not interested in fighting Canelo
In an interview with Fight Hub TV, Beterbiev was asked about a possible fight with Canelo Alvarez in the future, and his response was blunt and direct:
“When I was champion in my category, I wanted to fight him, because I wanted that belt, but now I’m not interested,” Beterbiev replied
“If he comes to my category or is mandatory, as an obligation, I am firm to fight with Canelo, but if it is by choice, I’m not interested,” Artur continued.
On the possible big fight between Canelo and Crawford, Beterbiev did not want to give predictions: “We’ll see, it’s a very interesting fight, I’m not a fan of watching boxing fights, but I’ll have to watch that one, no doubt.”
Canelo is already preparing for his May fight
Meanwhile, Canelo is already focused with his team to prepare for his next fight in May in Riyadh against William Scull. After that, he will most likely face Terence Crawford in Las Vegas in September.
The big question now is who will be Canelo Alvarez’s next opponent in 2026. Will it be a rematch with Bivol or will the long-awaited fight against David Benavidez finally come true?
