Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey delivered one of the most emphatic moments of the night Sunday, powering his team to a 135-108 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves at Target Center.

Maxey finished with a game-high 39 points on 16-of-28 shooting, adding three rebounds, eight assists and two steals as Philadelphia snapped a four-game losing streak and improved to 31-26. The victory also halted Minnesota‘s three-game winning streak, dropping the Timberwolves to 35-23.

Minnesota was without Rudy Gobert, who served a one-game suspension, and Naz Reid, sidelined with a shoulder injury. Still, the Timberwolves had their star guard Anthony Edwards available, and he found himself at the center of the game’s defining highlight.

A powerful dunk that electrified the 76ers

In the third quarter, with the 76ers already building control, Maxey drove into the lane and elevated over Edwards and Joan Beringer for a powerful dunk that electrified the Philadelphia bench and silenced the home crowd. The play extended the Sixers‘ momentum and underscored Maxey‘s aggressive approach throughout the night.

The sequence quickly circulated on social media and served as a turning point in a game that shifted firmly in Philadelphia‘s favor during the second half. Maxey’s ability to attack the rim and convert in traffic set the tone as the 76ers created separation on the scoreboard.

After the game, Edwards acknowledged both the play and Maxey’s overall performance. “He’s incredible. He already knows he’s one of my favorite players to watch in the league. He dunked on me today too. I don’t really like that. He played great,” Edwards said in a video posted by Timberwolves reporter Andrew Dukowitz.

The All-Star guard’s praise reflected the respect between two of the league’s rising stars. For Philadelphia, the performance represented more than just a highlight. It marked a statement win on the road and a potential turning point as the team looks to build consistency heading into the final stretch of the regular season.
