Travis d’Arnaud broke the tie in the eighth inning with his first home run of the season, and the Los Angeles Angels beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-4 on Sunday for their first three-game Freeway Series sweep since 2010.

With the score at 4-4, d’Arnaud hit a home run off left-hander Anthony Banda (3-1) for his second RBI of the game. The Angels added a run in the ninth with singles by Zach Neto and Nolan Schanuel, followed by a double play grounder by Yoan Moncada.

A painful sweep at Dodger Stadium

The Angels defeated the Dodgers, who suffered a painful sweep at home, the colossus of Chavez Ravine, by 6-2 on Friday, 11-9 on Saturday and 6-4 on Sunday.Shaun Anderson (1-0) got his first win with the Angels, allowing a game-tying three-run homer to Will Smith in the seventh inning and then retiring all three batters in order in the eighth and ninth. He ended the game by getting Shohei Ohtani to swing over a changeup for strike three.

Injured pitchers on both teams

The Angels left-hander Yusei Kikuchi allowed one run and three hits and struck out seven in 5 2/3 innings before injuring his right ankle in a collision at first base with Tommy Edman.

Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Tony Gonsolin cut his right thumb on his fifth pitch; bloodstains were visible on the back of his pants uniform. Gonsolin continued, but struggled with control, allowing four runs, four hits and five walks in four innings

The Angels with right-hander Jose Soriano as the starter will play the Oakland Athletics on Monday night, while the Dodgers will open a series at Dodger Stadium against the Arizona Diamondbacks, with right-hander Landon Knack as the starter.
