Angel Reese cheers as brother Julian makes Wizards debut

When one sibling reaches the pinnacle of professional basketball, it’s a special moment – but when two do it, the celebration multiplies.

That’s exactly what happened for Angel Reese, the standout Chicago Sky forward, as her younger brother, Julian Reese, stepped onto an NBA court for the first time with the Washington Wizards.

What made the debut even more remarkable was that Julian wasn’t just on the roster – he was named a starter, immediately putting him in the spotlight.

Julian‘s path to the NBA was far from straightforward. After completing four years at the University of Maryland, where he earned recognition for his rebounding and defensive prowess, he went undrafted in the 2025 NBA Draft.

Despite this setback, Julian refused to let disappointment slow him down. He joined the Los Angeles Lakers’ Summer League to showcase his skills, earning valuable experience and exposure.

Following that, he signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Toronto Raptors, which eventually led to a two-way deal with the Wizards at the end of February. This opportunity finally gives him a chance to prove he belongs on basketball’s biggest stage.

Julian’s debut and Angel’s emotional reaction

That first start in the Wizards’ matchup against the Houston Rockets was not lost on his family. Angel Reese, who has built her own reputation as one of the top forwards in the WNBA, shared her pride on X as soon as Julian‘s starting role was announced.

Her post, a single teary-eyed emoji, perfectly captured the overwhelming emotion of witnessing her younger brother reach a dream she knew he had worked tirelessly to achieve.

In his NBA debut, Julian logged nearly 28 minutes of action. He scored his first two NBA points, grabbed four rebounds, and made four steals, showing glimpses of his defensive skill set.

While he also committed four turnovers and fouled out, the stats hardly tell the full story. The Wizards lost a close game, 123-118, but for the Reese family, the scoreboard was secondary. This game represented the culmination of years of hard work, resilience, and dedication.

Angel further expressed her support by reposting highlights and footage of her brother walking onto the court, a gesture that emphasized both her pride and the significance of the moment. It wasn’t just about scoring points or winning games, it was about seeing determination rewarded and a dream realized.

Julian‘s debut may have been a single game, but it represents years of perseverance, and with Angel cheering him on, there’s little doubt that his NBA journey is just beginning.

This milestone is as much a celebration of family dedication as it is of professional achievement, highlighting how hard work and unwavering belief can lead to moments that will be remembered forever.
