The Kansas City Chiefs are going through a rough start with two consecutive losses by a combined margin of just nine points. In that context, the potential return of Xavier Worthy could be key to turning the offense around. However, the status of the explosive second-year receiver remains unclear, and fans are eagerly awaiting a definitive answer.
The 22-year-old speedster suffered a shoulder dislocation in the clash against the Los Angeles Chargers, after a hard accidental hit from Travis Kelce. Although he returned to practice during the week -alongside Jalen Royals- his availability remains uncertain.

Head coach Andy Reid was direct but not very encouraging when addressing the issue: “We’ll see how it goes,” said the three-time Super Bowl champion, in comments reported by ESPN. Reid’s statement supports reports that rate Worthy’s chances of playing in Sunday Night Football against the New York Giants at 50/50.
The reality is that a shoulder injury always poses an extra challenge for a receiver, as it carries the risk of recurring pain or a setback that could cost him more weeks on the sidelines.
The Chiefs need to regain their offensive rhythm
Although the Chiefs don’t usually panic during the regular season, the pressure is starting to build. With Patrick Mahomes under center, the team has never lost three consecutive games, so a 0-3 start in a highly competitive AFC West would be alarming.
The offense, still searching for the spark that defined it in past years, needs all its firepower. Even with Rashee Rice active, the presence of a healthy Worthy represents a vertical threat that Kansas City has missed since Tyreek Hill’s departure.

Reid and his coaching staff trust that, sooner or later, the young receiver will return to a high level and boost an offense that currently lacks explosiveness. His participation against the Giants is still uncertain, but there’s no doubt that when Worthy returns, he will be a decisive factor for the Chiefs in their quest to turn the season around.
