Alcaraz and his viral photo after beating Fritz: “It was a feeling of relief after a very tough match”

One of the images that has been left by the ATP Finals in Turin is of Carlos Alcaraz sitting in his chair, shirtless, thoughtful and looking at the ground for quite a few seconds at the end of his second match with Taylor Fritz. At stake were much of his chances of reaching the semifinals and finishing the season as world No. 1.

Alcaraz had to come from behind and suffer in each service game in the second set before achieving a saving break in the 12th game. At the end of the match, he was thoughtful and explained to MARCA what was going through his head,

It was very intense, both physically and mentally

“It was a feeling of relief, really. It was a very intense match, both physically and mentally very demanding, and very exhausting. From the beginning, I knew how difficult and hard it was going to be. In the end I was able to sit down, I was able to think and I was able to do everything much more calmly and that’s what happened,” reflects the best tennis player on the planet,

A day of disconnection

Alcaraz decided to take Wednesday off and did not step on the training courts. He worked out in the tournament gym, where he rode the exercise bike and moved to his hotel. If he reaches the semifinals, he will have another 24 hours to prepare for the final stretch of the Masters tournament.
