AJ Epenesa says goodbye to Josh Allen to help Shedeur Sanders’ Browns in their reconstruction

The Cleveland Browns keep adjusting the measures of their reconstruction and, by the latest move, they seem to be betting for a reshape of their pass-rusher representative. These actions have the reported goal of investing in their new era under quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

On Wednesday, the news came saying that veteran defensive endAJ Epenesa was officially moving on from Western New York. After years of chasing championships alongside Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills, Epenesa is heading to Northeast Ohio to join a Browns squad that is fundamentally transforming its identity.

A strategic one-year bet

According to sources speaking with ESPN’sAdam Schefter, Epenesa has agreed to a one-year deal with the Cleveland Browns. The contract is worth up to $5 million, a future style agreement that allows the 27-year-old defender to showcase his value in a new system while giving Cleveland a veteran approach at a manageable price point.

For Epenesa, this marks the end of a significant chapter. Drafted by the Bills in 2020, he grew into a reliable rotational piece in Buffalo’s feared front four. Saying goodbye to Josh Allen and a perennial Super Bowl contender was not a business decision like that, as for him, this is a move toward a team where his veteran presence could help anchor a rebuilding locker room. A locker room where he has a chance to be a primary contributor.

As AJ Epenesa packs his bags to go Cleveland, the Browns’ fan base has plenty to be optimistic about.
