New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge had a bittersweet end to the season last October, when he lost the World Series to the Los Angeles Dodgers, but took home the American League MVP award.

That is exactly what has been chasing him in this new season that is about to begin in the ‘Big Top’, as the many negative comments that he had to endure after his mistake in the last game in the Fall Classic was compounded by the frustration of not being able to finish with the title a good season with the Yankees.

His campaign was .322, 58 home runs and 144 RBIs, but even that could not stop the many messages that blamed him for the loss to the Dodgers for one mistake when he could not get that ball in center field in the fifth inning of the fifth game of the Fall Classic at Dodger Stadium.

Judge wants to “rewrite the script”

Well, last Thursday, the New York Yankees star spoke to MLB Network about his goals for this season, which is just around the corner, and predicted a return to the World Series for the Bronx Bombers: That’s what he told Lauren Shehadi and Chris Young: “It’s still pretty much the same going into the new season. We have one goal here when we play in New York, it’s about winning the championship. We were close last year, we had a chance to go to the dance, we didn’t get the job done. But everyone in this room is motivated to get back there and rewrite the script.”

“The Yankees want to be better”

The number 99 and absolute reference in the New York ninth not only spoke of the intentions, but also of the human group that the Yankees have to be able to make a return to those instances a reality and referred to his new teammates in comments to SNY, as well as the departure of Juan Soto: “Soto is a unique man. He’s a special player. I’m excited for him and his new chapter with the Mets, but we added a lot of new pieces here… starting with Cody Bellinger and Paul Goldschmidt.“The guys still want to get better, they still want to be better. They’re going to bring a very different dynamic to this team. It really lengthens this whole lineup. You can’t replace a guy like Juan Soto, but if you bring in guys like this who are All-Stars, MVP-caliber players, we did a really good job,” Judge said.
