Aaron Boone responds to Hunter Dobbins after ‘hating’ the Yankees and puts him in his place with a blunt comment

The world of sports is full of rivalries and baseball is no exception. Fans defend their teams to the death and identify with them as much as they can. In turn, there are several players who also generate a bond for the club in which they play and this sometimes brings controversy off the field.

There is no doubt that the New York Yankees have thousands of fans and are a very popular club, however, this also attracts detractors among fans and players. Such was the case of Boston Red Sox rookie pitcher Hunter Dobbins, who did not have very good words for his rival team and made a statement that did not go unnoticed.

The 25-year-old commented that he would rather retire from the activity if the Yankees were the last team to offer him a contract. In this way, Dobbins turned up the heat and, as expected, many fans appeared upset by his comment and criticized him quite a bit. In addition to the fans, there was also a response from a player.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. responded to Dobbins’ statement in a very concrete way. The player posted the comment on Instagram and wrote “See you at seven”, as it was before the game between the Yankees and the Red Sox.

It is spoken on the field

After the controversial statement, it was time to play the game and it was a victory for the Red Sox over the Yankees. Although Dobbins’ team won, the player was hit with back-to-back home runs and did not show his best form, which shows that despite winning, his statements weighed heavily.

After the game, Yankees manager Aaron Boone was asked about Dobbins’ comments and decided to downplay them by pointing to the player’s age. “He’s young,” was all he said.

It seems like a hypothetical scenario. He’s young, I don’t think it’s an attack on our players. It’s an interesting comment for a player to make, but I think it’s just an expression of love for his team

An intense duel

Going purely to the sporting side, the Red Sox had a very good performance in the game against the Yankees, despite the fact that Boone’s team showed a great offense and scored seven runs, but Carlos Rodon was not at his best and allowed five earned runs in five innings pitched

Rafael Devers’ home run sealed the Red Sox’s victory and capped a bad day for the Yankees, who are likely to drop in the MLB rankings.
