Rafael Alkorta, a Real Madrid player from 1993 to 1997, has revealed a fight that happened in the locker room during his years with the team.
“Once, I’m telling you the truth, the typical training session after a match that the starters leave before…”, the 56-year-old former footballer began on the programme ‘El Larguero’ on Cadena SER.
Alvaro Benito, formerly of Real Madrid, interrupted him and pointed out that “those training sessions are dangerous”.
The detail that confirms that the fight Alkorta talks about was in the Real Madrid dressing room
Alkorta resumed the story and confirmed that the fight was between Real Madrid players: “Those of us who had played as starters went in earlier and I was shaving. Do you remember Alvaro in the old dressing room? (confirming that the fight was during his time at Real Madrid). I was shaving with the mirror and I see a teammate pass by calmly, with a pachorra… A minute later another one appears grabbed by two shouting ‘I’ll kill you, I’ll rip your head off!’ And I was shaving, not believing it. Looking at them in the mirror and saying ‘this can’t be happening'”.
“Did the blood reach the river?” Manu Carreño asked him.
Rafa Alkorta denied that the blood reached the river because “one came from behind, with two who grabbed him, and stopped him. But he came in shouting ‘where is he, where is he?'”.
“And I thought… First of all, how calmly it happened… As if to say, this has stayed on the field,” he recalled.
