Real Madrid has just suffered a major blow ahead of the crucial matches on their calendar. Bad news has arrived at Valdebebas, while José Mourinho must be very pleased.

Blow for Real Madrid: A harsh suspension for Rodrygo

Álvaro Arbeloa will not be able to count on one of his best offensive players. According to the announcement from UEFA, Rodrygo Goes has been suspended for two matches following his red card in the last Champions League league-phase match against Benfica.

The UEFA disciplinary committee applied the corresponding article for “insults or abusive language toward the refereeing team,” confirming the sanction that leaves Real Madrid without one of their most decisive attackers at a key moment in the Champions League.

Rodrygo issued an apology after the incident, but now he will leave his team in a very vulnerable position in a phase where they could be eliminated from another competition.

The absence of Rodrygo is added to the injury of Jude Bellingham, meaning Real Madrid now has two very significant absences. Despite this, Arbeloa‘s team remains the favorite, but there is no doubt that complacency is dangerous because Benfica is fully capable of pulling off an upset.
