Those who missed seeing Zinedine Zidane on the bench again, the wait is over. Or so it seems. Zizou’s return to coaching will be after the World Cup and his destination is in France.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Zidane will return to coaching as France coach. It is reported that there is already a verbal agreement for Zinedine to take over after the 2026 World Cup, the last project in the management of Didier Deschamps, the current coach of the French national team.
There has been much talk in the last five years that ‘Zizou’ is the right person to coach ‘Les Bleus’. Well, the French Football Federation will fulfill the dream of all those fans who asked for the legend on the bench of the national team. Subject to the signing of the contract, as Romano reports, Zidane will be France’s coach in its next process.
It was in June 2021 that he left Real Madrid. Since then, five years have passed before he returned to the management of a team. He ignored several offers and turned a deaf ear to many more because he had one goal: to be France coach. His goal is about to be fulfilled.
Zidane is an idol with the national team
The fans have a fresh memory. They do not forget that ‘Zizou’ was the one who led and guided France to win its first World Cup in France ’98. He wore the national jersey 108 times, the same one with which he won the Euro 2000 and the World Cup runner-up in Germany 2006.
Subsequently, thanks to his successful spell at Real Madrid as coach, the fans began to ask for him as the national team coach. His name generates coincidences, so he has no detractors or opponents to his choice.
A challenge to match Deschamps’ management
Accepting the job as France coach is both a burden of demands and obligations. At the very least, he will have to match what Didier Deschamps did, as he managed to design a management of good results.
- World champion in Russia 2018
- World Cup runner-up in Qatar 2022
- Runner-up at Euro 2016
Zidane will be given one task: to win a World Cup. Another objective will be to win the European Championship.
