Recognition among legends has always been mutual, and it was no different when Zach Ertz paid tribute to his former teammate Brandon Graham, who recently announced his retirement from football.
Zach Ertz’s Message to Brandon Graham
The Washington Commanders’ tight end was one of the few NFL players who publicly reacted to the defensive lineman’s retirement. After all, Ertz shared the locker room with Graham from 2013 to 2021.
“Legend!!” Ertz wrote on X (formerly Twitter) this Tuesday. “Truly a great football player, but there will never be another teammate like BG! Enjoy retirement my guy!”
Other players who joined in the tribute on social media included former Eagles linebacker Emmanuel Acho, current Eagles offensive tackle Lane Johnson, and Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jourdan Lewis, among others.
At 36 years old, Graham leaves behind an enduring legacy with the Philadelphia Eagles, where he will surely be missed. His career concludes after 15 seasons, during which he recorded a total of 485 tackles, 23 fumble recoveries, seven forced fumbles, and 76.5 quarterback sacks – including a memorable strip-sack in Super Bowl LII against Tom Brady.
Graham is also one of four players who took part in both of Philadelphia’s Super Bowl victories: the 2017 win against New England and the recent triumph over Kansas City.
After recovering from a torn triceps, Graham returned to face the Chiefs. He played 13 snaps, recorded one tackle in the 40-22 victory, and unfortunately re-tore his triceps during the game.
