Zach Ertz and Jayden Daniels, stars of the Washington Commanders, deliver a brutal blow to Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys

There’s no doubt that last season, the Washington Commanders had an outstanding – and unexpected – campaign, making it all the way to the NFC Championship Game, where they ultimately fell to the Philadelphia Eagles. Under head coach Dan Quinn, the team finished the season with a record of 12 wins and 5 losses in Jayden Daniels’ rookie year as quarterback.

Jayden Daniels, the LSU rookie, passed for over 3,500 yards and 25 touchdowns. He also ran for nearly 900 yards and earned the Offensive Rookie of the Year award. The Commanders won their first two playoff games in nearly 20 years and even knocked out the favored Detroit Lions.

This season, the Washington Commanders will be respected – but it won’t be easy, as the NFC East is home to the reigning champion Philadelphia Eagles, who are once again favorites to return to the Super Bowl.

Zach Ertz believes Jayden Daniels is on the right track

Jayden Daniels will be one of the most closely watched quarterbacks in the upcoming NFL season, after his stunning rookie year. He’s expected to face a battle in the NFC East – not only with the Philadelphia Eagles, but also with the Dallas Cowboys, and even the New York Giants could shake things up in the division.

Zach Ertz, the veteran tight end for the Commanders, believes his quarterback is still progressing, and that Daniels’ second year could be even more impactful – especially because of his strong work ethic.

“I think he had a phenomenal year last year,” Ertz said in an interview with Kay Adams. “And I think when he goes back and watches the film, I, as a tight end, can’t exactly say what he needs to improve on. But I know there are always things in this league you can improve. Going into my 13th season, there are still things I’m constantly working on. And really, that’s what sports are all about. That’s the best part – you can always find something to work on, because no one is a perfect player. So for Jayden, I’m sure it’s little things – consistency, footwork, timing, whatever it may be. There’s always something he’s working on because he’s the kind of guy who loves to put in the effort, loves the process, and holds himself to extremely high standards.”

According to betting odds, the Commanders have a strong chance to return to the playoffs – but it’s all step by step. Their first challenge will be opening the season at home against the New York Giants.
