Former Los Angeles Dodgers player Yasiel Puig has not played in Major League Baseball for almost five years, but the Cuban is now looking for a new opportunity to wear an MLB team uniform.

The 34-year-old played seven seasons in MLB, six with the Dodgers and one more with Cincinnati and Cleveland, and had a .277 average at the plate, with 132 home runs, 415 RBIs and 441 runs scored.

Despite his good numbers, the Caribbean has not been able to sign with another team since he played his last season in the majors in 2019, when he hit .267 with 24 home runs and 84 RBIs in 149 games with the Reds and then Indians.

Through the social network X, Puig posted: “I hope that someday @mlb can open up opportunities for me as they have for others who have been suspended. Many will say things about me that are not true, but I ask that they look at something: I was never suspended for off-field reasons. I ask that justice be done someday. I will never give up.”

The reasons why Puig has not returned to MLB

Although he was never suspended from MLB, the Cuban was involved in several controversies. He was accused of multiple cases of sexual abuse, although he reportedly reached an out-of-court settlement. He was also accused of being involved in an illegal sports sexual abuse operation, a charge he always denied.

For now, Puig is part of the Korean baseball league, having played for different teams in several leagues around the world.

Oara this 2025, the Caribbean player will play with the Kiwoom Heroes, after leaving his winter league team, Tiburones de La Guaira in Venezuela, due to a request from the Korean team with which he had already played previously.

In 2022, Puig hit 21 home runs and drove in 73 runs with the same Korean team.

In 2023, Puig played for El Aguila de Veracruz in the Mexican League and hit .314 with 18 home runs and 43 RBIs in 64 games. Now he is asking for a new opportunity to play in the best baseball in the world, something that only time will tell.
