Yankees set MLB record as ‘Torpedo Bat’ debate intensifies between fans

The Yankees have just done something pretty wild. They hit 22 home runs in just six games, which is a new record for any team in MLB history. And get this, they did it against the Arizona Diamondbacks, with Jazz Chisholm even hitting a homer. That’s a lot of power in a short amount of time. It’s like they won’t stop hitting them out of the park.

Aaron Judge, the 2024 MVP, is having a crazy start to the season. He’s already hit five home runs in just six games. Last year, it took him 28 games to reach that number. It’s like he’s on a whole different level this year. And, by hitting those home runs, he’s also reached his 500th career extra-base hit. It’s safe to say he’s definitely a player to watch this season.

Since Jazz Chisholm joined the Yankees, he’s been putting up some pretty solid numbers. In 52 games, he’s hitting .275, which is a decent batting average. His OPS is .865, showing he’s getting on base and hitting for power. And he’s already hit 15 home runs and driven in 31 runs. That’s some good production. He’s definitely been contributing to the team’s offense, and he seems to be settling in well with the Yankees. It’ll be interesting to see how he keeps it up throughout the season.

To put it in perspective, before this season, no team in the history of Major League Baseball had ever hit more than 17 home runs in their first six games. That’s a pretty long history. But this year, the 2025 Yankees have blown that record away. They’ve hit a staggering 22 home runs in their first six games. That’s five more than the previous record. It just shows how incredibly powerful their offense has been right from the start of the season.

On the other side of the plate, Aaron Judge is making his own history. He’s only the second player in MLB, since RBIs became an official stat back in 1920, to hit five or more home runs and drive in 15 or more runs in his first six games. That’s a really specific and impressive stat. And the only other guy to do it? None other than the legendary Babe Ruth, back in 1932. That puts Judge in some seriously elite company.

And to wrap up this incredible night for the Yankees, there’s the story of Jose Escarra. He’s a 28-year-old catcher from Florida, and he just got his first-ever Major League hit. It’s an amazing moment for him, especially when you consider that not too long ago, he was driving an Uber. Now, he’s out there, contributing to his team’s historic start. It’s a real “rags to riches” story, and it just adds another layer to what was already a phenomenal night for the Yankees.
