The New York Yankees are once again at a crossroads with Aaron Boone. Despite delivering a World Series in 2024, Boone’s managerial future is under scrutiny as the 2025 campaign drags on with mixed results.

According to Heavy.com, the Yankees have been linked to veteran skipper Ron Washington, a respected baseball mind who has amassed 789 career wins and is admired for his infield expertise and leadership.

Ron Washington’s winning resume

Washington is no stranger to success in Major League Baseball. The 72 year old managed the Texas Rangers from 2007 to 2014, leading them to back-to-back World Series appearances in 2010 and 2011. With 789 career wins, Washington is widely regarded as a players’ manager with a knack for developing infield talent.

After stepping away due to personal reasons, Washington returned to coaching and most recently managed the Los Angeles Angels. While his tenure there was rocky due to roster struggles, his leadership and deep knowledge of the game have kept him a respected figure around the league. For the Yankees, bringing in Washington could signal a desire for both stability and veteran experience.

Boone’s standing with the Yankees

Aaron Boone has had a polarizing tenure in New York. He ranks among the winningest managers in franchise history and delivered the long-awaited 2024 World Series apperance. Yet, Yankee fans have grown restless with his in-game decisions and the team’s uneven play in 2025.

His contract, which runs through 2027, suggests organizational commitment, but the link to Washington highlights lingering doubts about Boone’s ability to keep the club on top.
