Yankees are advised not to go for Bryce Harper and focus on other reinforcements

Paying millions of dollars for a slugger is not the only way to get to and win a World Series, or at least that would be the judgment for the New York Yankees, who are considering the idea of going for Bryce Harper, one of Philadelphia’s stars who has an incredible arm that anyone would want in their ranks. However, one baseball analyst shared why not to ‘sign’ the Phillies first baseman.

Harper is known for his aggressive style of play and his ability to turn the course of a game with a single swing. His contract with the Phillies, one of the most lucrative in baseball history, reflects his value on the field. Fans know him for his ability to “knock it out of the park” and his passion for the game.

Bryce Harper’s bad moment would keep him away from sharing a team with Aaron Judge

Harper’s idea with Aaron Judge in the Yankees is for the cover of a comic book that any Bronx fan would write today. Yes, it would be a dream come true for many, but what then? That’s right, the same thing would happen as when a crying child is given a lollipop and when it runs out, he doesn’t know what to do and cries again. Aaron Boone‘s team is not there to fulfill the dreams of managers or fans, it must make strategic changes.

I don’t think there’s anything crazy about Yankees fans dreaming

And in the right strategy to follow, Harper would not fit into the equation. Why? Well, according to Joel Sherman (New York Post), the Yankees should potentially not explore a deal for the slugger although he would not be surprised. “I don’t think there’s anything crazy about Yankees fans dreaming,” Sherman said. “Historically, they go after stars. But Harper just had his worst season, and he’s 33 years old.”

He continued: “He’s a violent player in the way he swings, and the way he runs, and you have to seriously ask yourself, ‘Am I about to buy the worst years of Bryce Harper’s career because I’m in love with the name, and I feel miserable for not signing him when he was 26?’” In addition, even if the Yankees wanted Harper, there has been no indication that Philadelphia is going to let him go at this time.

Yankees consider Pete Alonso

In relation to the possible Yankees trades during the offseason, if the Bronx side get an elite first baseman, they could transfer Rice to catcher full-time and make Austin Wells his backup. Pete Alonso is available, and according to MLB expert Jon Heyman, some within the Yankees organization are intrigued by the idea of signing him.

“At least some in the Yankees like Alonso,” Heyman said during a live broadcast for Bleacher Report. “They have first base open. Would they look for another right-handed, big-bodied hitter? I’m not sure. I know there are people who like Alonso.” Alonso will not be cheap. He is probably looking for a long-term contract, and is projected to get a six-year deal worth $176 million
