World Series champ Mookie Betts hands out hope at LA Thanksgiving event

Mookie Betts has barely had time to let the celebrations settle, but Los Angeles is already seeing him in a completely different spotlight. The Dodgers are coming off their second straight World Series title after a tense seven game battle with the Toronto Blue Jays, where they clawed back from a 3 to 2 deficit.

Even with the pressure and intensity of that run, Betts has slipped right back into everyday life in LA, this time not holding a bat but handing out meals.

His season ended with a .258 batting average, 20 home runs and 82 RBI. Not his flashiest stat line, yet his influence and presence continue to shape the Dodgers’ identity. Twelve years into his MLB career, including six seasons with Boston, Betts has stacked up achievements that few players ever touch: eight All Star selections, four World Series rings, one AL MVP, six Gold Gloves and seven Silver Slugger Awards.

Now that the postseason buzz has cooled, Betts seems intent on making his free time count.

Mookie Betts: A champion who shows up off the field

This week, he joined the Dodgers Foundation, the Brotherhood Crusade and the 5050 Foundation to help run a Thanksgiving turkey drive. With the holiday a week away, families lined up to grab meals and share a moment with one of LA’s biggest sports stars. The 5050 Foundation shared clips of Betts loading bags into cars and smiling through a cloudy day, reminding followers on social media that weather never stops the mission.

According to reporting from DodgerBlue.com, the event aimed to help hundreds of families and continues a long partnership between the organizations. Betts reshared the video on his Instagram story, adding a personal touch to a moment that meant a lot to the community.

Los Angeles Dodgers: Community first as LA celebrates another title

The Dodgers’ World Series victory is still fresh across the city, especially after the dramatic comeback over a tough Toronto squad. Yet Betts is already moving with a different kind of urgency. This offseason, he is using his platform to connect with fans in a more direct way, one that blends gratitude, service and the joy of giving back.

For LA, it is another reason to appreciate the superstar who helped bring home another championship. And for Betts, it is a reminder that being a leader does not end when the final out is recorded. It continues in moments like these, where the city gets to see its champions doing something simple but powerful: showing up.
