Angel Reese has seen her stature grow rapidly in the last year both on and off the basketball court, with the WNBA rookie securing all sorts of brand deals to earn some extra money.
Her performances for the Chicago Sky and her Unapologetically Angel podcast have made her a huge star and she will only get more popular, and now she has a partnership with one of the biggest brands in the world.
There is a new item on the McDonald’s menu, and from February 10, people will be able to order the Reese special in the United States of America. Ordering it would get you a BBQ Bacon Quarter Pounder with Cheese topped with a new BBQ sauce, French fries, and a drink.
Reese is the first female athlete to have a national meal deal with one of the country’s largest fast-food chains.
Fans react to the deal
As is so commonly the case for successful sportswomen, lots of fans had negative things to say about the new menu item.
“This deal will miss and rebound every year,” one fan said.
“Does it come with a side of bricks?” another fan asked.
“Really missed opportunity with a double-double..,” a more creative fan said.
“Oh god, why are you partnering with this clown?” someone who really dislikes Reese asked.
“Can’t wait for the videos of people missing their mouths with the burger,” another said.
Reese receives a huge amount of hate online but that hasn’t stopped a huge number of brands teaming up with her, because they know she will be one of America’s major sports stars for many years to come.
She has managed to amass a huge total of 17 different NIL sponsorship deals, according to a March 2023 Sponsor United report.
These deals include brands such as PlayStation, Raising Canes, McDonald’s, Coach, Wingstop, Outback Steakhouse, and Amazon.
