The 2024 WNBA Draft brought an extraordinary level of attention to the league, as three of the most talked-about stars in women’s college basketball made their long-anticipated leap to the professional ranks. Caitlin Clark, Cameron Brink and Angel Reese were among the headliners, each coming off standout collegiate careers that had captivated fans across the country.

Clark, known for her deep shooting range, court vision, and high-scoring performances at the University of Iowa, was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft.

She was selected by the Indiana Fever, a team that had long sought a generational talent to anchor its rebuild. Clark entered the league with sky-high expectations-and lived up to them.

During her rookie campaign, Clark not only led the league in assists, but also broke multiple WNBA records. Her dynamic playmaking and fearless shooting helped re-energize the Indiana franchise and attracted record-setting viewership numbers throughout the season. Her efforts earned her the league’s 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year honors.

Brink and Reese round out a superstar draft class

Right behind Clark, Cameron Brink was taken second overall by the Los Angeles Sparks. A dominant force at Stanford University, Brink had built a reputation as one of the most versatile defenders in college basketball. Her ability to block shots, protect the paint, and stretch the floor offensively made her a perfect fit for a Sparks team looking to revamp its frontcourt.

Brink got off to a promising start in her rookie year, showcasing her trademark shot-blocking and rebounding instincts. However, her season was unfortunately derailed by a torn ACL in June 2024, cutting short what many believed could have been an All-Rookie-caliber campaign.

Selected with the seventh overall pick, Angel Reese landed with the Chicago Sky. Known as “Bayou Barbie” during her college days at LSU, Reese brought tenacity, rebounding dominance, and a fierce competitive edge to the professional stage. She wasted no time making an impact with the Sky, proving herself to be one of the most physical and active forwards in the league.

Reese’s rookie year included a selection to the 2024 WNBA All-Rookie Team, and she also earned a spot in the WNBA All-Star Game, making her one of the few rookies to receive that honor.
