WNBA Draft unites Georgia Amoore and Trinity Rodman in a very special friendship: Straight out a movie

Georgia Amoore hasn’t even played a game in the WNBA yet, but the Aussie star has already scored a major win off the court – a budding new friendship with none other than Trinity Rodman, the breakout star of the NWSL’s Washington Spirit.

Fresh off being selected 11th overall by the Washington Mystics in the 2025 WNBA Draft, the 24-year-old guard has found an unexpected but heartwarming connection with Rodman, who welcomed her to D.C. in a surprise video message that quickly went viral.

In the now widely shared clip, posted by WNBA on X, Amoore is seen sitting on a subway bench when she receives a heartfelt greeting from Rodman.

“Hey Georgia, it’s Trinity here,” Rodman begins. “Just wanted to give you a huge congrats on being drafted. Welcome to the WNBA. Happy you are with the Mystics.”

Amoore’s Crossover Connection

Rodman, a 2024 Olympian and daughter of NBA Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman, extended an open invite to Amoore for an NWSL match – a moment that clearly left the rookie stunned.

“Hopefully, we can get you out to a Washington Spirit game. Get to hang out, do whatever,” Rodman continued. “I’m very honored and happy that you’re a fan of mine. I’m just, I don’t know, very excited to see what you do now on your new journey.”

Amoore, grinning from ear to ear, was visibly overwhelmed with excitement.

“That’s the best thing that I have ever seen in my life,” she gushed, before adding, “Trinity, DM me, I’ll give you my number. We’ll work on plans… I’ll be there, I’ll be there on the stands. I’m your biggest fan.”

The wholesome exchange instantly won over fans and hinted at the start of a friendship that feels destined for viral moments and sideline selfies.

Two Young Stars, One City

While their sports may differ, the similarities between Rodman and Amoore are undeniable.

Both moved fast and fearlessly to stake their claim in pro sports. Rodman stunned the soccer world at just 18, and Amoore left her home country of Australia at 19 to play college basketball in the U.S.

At Virginia Tech, she led the Hokies to a Final Four appearance, earned ACC Tournament MVP honors, and averaged 16.3 points and 4.9 assists during her 2022-23 campaign.

In her graduate season at Kentucky, Amoore raised the bar even higher, putting up 19.6 points and 6.9 assists per game, while breaking the school’s single-season assist record.

Now, she joins a rare elite group – including Caitlin Clark and Sabrina Ionescu – as one of only three Division I players to record over 2,300 points and 800 assists in a career.

It’s clear the Washington Mystics have landed a gem. And while fans are eager to see what Amoore brings to the WNBA hardwood, the surprise spark with Trinity Rodman might just become the feel-good subplot of the summer.

With shared passion, drive, and charisma, these two rising stars are proving that friendship knows no bounds – not even between basketball courts and soccer fields.
