WNBA Commissioner’s Cup 2025 Prize Money: How much will the Indiana Fever players receive for winning?

The WNBA’s 2025 season is already shaping up to be one of the most exciting yet-and a big part of that momentum comes from the return of the Commissioner’s Cup, presented by Coinbase.

Now in its fifth year, the in-season tournament doesn’t just add intensity to regular conference matchups-it also brings real money to the table. Teams will compete from June 1 to June 17 in designated Cup games that count toward both the regular season and the Cup standings. The top team from each conference moves on to the championship, set for July 1 at the home court of the team with the better record.

Breaking Down the Prize Pool

The winning team will split a $500,000 prize pool, giving players a much-welcomed financial boost. Coinbase is also tossing in $120,000 in crypto, including a guaranteed $5,000 in cryptocurrency to every player who appears in the championship game-win or lose.

While exact player payouts haven’t been confirmed for this year, previous editions saw players on the winning team earn as much as $30,000 each. It’s a meaningful bonus in a league where max salaries still lag far behind those in the NBA.

But the Cup isn’t just about dollars. Each Commissioner’s Cup game also generates charitable donations to nonprofits selected by the players. It’s a dual-purpose event: competitive fire on the court, and social impact off of it.

“This format has been a win-win,”WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert said during last year’s tournament. “It puts purpose and prize money on the line.” (Source: The Athletic)

With the added layer of competition, Coinbase’s growing role in crypto incentives, and another chance for players to support causes they believe in, the Commissioner’s Cup has gone from experimental to essential.

Expect more details soon when the WNBA finalizes its TV and streaming schedule. Until then, fans can start circling July 1 on the calendar-and players can start dreaming of a payday that means more than just pride.
