This weekend, the WNBA All-Star Game will take place-an event highly anticipated by the thousands of fans eager to see all of the league’s best players gathered in one place.

Caitlin Clark and Napheesa Collier are the captains of the two teams, although, unfortunately for the Indiana Fever star and her supporters, Clark won’t be able to take part as an active player. On Tuesday, she reaggravated a groin injury-the same one that previously kept her off the court for five games. Since returning, she’s looked rusty and far from her usual rhythm.

All-Star Game format change

Last year’s All-Star Game was very different from what we’ll see this Saturday, July 19, in Indiana. In 2024, the WNBA All-Stars faced off against the U.S. Olympic Women’s Team. This time, both Caitlin Clark and Napheesa Collier had the chance to draft their rosters, first selecting starters, then reserves.

The All-Star Game won’t be the only event hosted at the home of the Fever and Pacers. Starting Friday, July 18, fans will also be able to enjoy the skills challenge and the three-point shooting contest.

This has raised the question: How much will players earn for participating in the All-Star Game and the surrounding contests?

WNBA All-Star Game earnings

This past Sunday, details emerged about how much each player will earn for taking part in the festivities-and the amount is, frankly, not very high. Each All-Star will take home $2,575.

Every participating player will earn the same amount, regardless of whether they’re a starter or reserve. The MVP of the game will receive a separate prize of $5,150.

Prize money for the three-point and skills contest winners

Fortunately for the players, more companies are starting to take notice of the league, leading to improved prizes for individual competitions. Insurance company Aflac has partnered with the WNBA, which means significantly better payouts for those events.

Aflac has increased the prize pool, raising it from $110,000 to $115,000,. a significant boost that adds greater appeal for players competing in these challenges.

The winner of the three-point contest will earn $60,000, while the champion of the skills challenge will receive $55,000. With these numbers, the athletes will surely compete with enthusiasm and excitement.

For fans looking to enjoy the talent on display, the action will be broadcast on ESPN and YouTube TV. Viewers will be able to keep track of their favorite stars in a game expected to bring fireworks and leave a lasting impression on everyone tuning in.

This will be a unique way to enjoy these stars all gather to show off their skills and abilities on the court. This is why no one must skip it, and root for their best players from the beginning of the game.
