As the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game draws near, fans are gearing up for one of the most anticipated shows, which takes place on July 19 in Indianapolis. It stars rookies like Caitlin Clark and two-time All-StarNapheesa Collier under a fan-loved captain-vs-captain style.

But how do they pick the All-Star players? And what are the game rules? Lets dive into how the teams are made, how you can vote, and what to expect this big weekend.

Fan votes pick the stars

The WNBA All-Star picks start with the fanbase. They got to vote daily from June 12 to June 28. You could pick your top 10 players, made up of four guards and six frontcourt players. On special days, each vote counted twice to boost interaction.

But it is not just fans who have a say. The final count gives fans 50% weight, while WNBA players and professional analysts each have 25%. After all votes are in, the top 10 players become starters.

The two with the most votes, Caitlin Clark and Napheesa Collier, are selected as captains. They after pick teams from the pool of selected All-Stars.

Coaches and captains

With the starters set, head coaches then pick 12 more players to join the pool.

Captains Clark and Collier picked their teammates live on TV, splitting between starters and reserves into Team Clark and Team Collier. This captain-led method, now in it is second year of existence, is quite a hit among fans.

Interestingly, coaches were first based on team wins, with Cheryl Reeve and Sandy Brondello picked. Yet, in a twist, Clark and Collier got to swap coaches after picking teams, adding a personal touch to their lineups.

Game day rules and highlights

The 2025 game will use regular WNBA rules, aiming for a fun yet fierce match. It is Team Clark against Team Collier, ditching the old USA vs. WNBA style.

The night before the big game, there is a three-point contest and skills challenge. These are fun parts of the whole weekend, shown on ESPN at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

The main game kicks off at 8:30 p.m. ET on ABC, spotlighting both new stars and seasoned pros.

A celebration of the WNBA growth

The 2025 WNBA All-Star Game comes as the WNBA enjoys more viewers, fuller stands, and new amazing stars like Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese. This event is more than a game, it is a proof of how the leage has kept on growing day by day.

With exciting leaders like Clark and Collier shaping up the show, we can expect it to be without a doubt the match of the year.
