Without prestigious rivals, David Benavidez assures he will be the number one in boxing

David Benavidez is one of the big names in boxing today, where Terence Crawford appears to be the most prominent after defeating Canelo Alvarez.

Saul Alvarez (63-3-2) avoided the fight with the Mexican Monster while they were at 168 pounds, and it seems unlikely that Crawford (42-0) will move up to 175 pounds to challenge Benavidez.

Benavidez wants to make boxing history

Already at light heavyweight, Dmitry Bivol refused the fight against Red Flag and the WBC stripped the Russian of his belt to give it to Benavidez and thus become world champion for the first time.

Now the Phoenix, Arizona native wants to prove with big fights that he deserves world titles, but he still lacks those heavyweight opponents on his resume. But he is convinced that he will be one of the best in history.

I guarantee that when it’s all said and done, I will be one of the greatest fighters of all time. I’m not going to stop until I achieve what I set out to do. I want to be number one.

David Benavidez vs Anthony Yarde

For now, David Benavidez (30-0) will have to come out with his fist held high on November 22 when he fights Anthony Yarde (27-3) in Saudi Arabia in his first title defense.

If he wins that fight, perhaps by 2026 his list of opponents will improve with names that will allow him to achieve his goal of being one of the best in history.
