Indiana Fever has had a good season, overcoming the difficulties they faced and qualifying to the WNBA Playoffs. However, it is safe to say that it was not the way they wanted it to be.
With six players injured, five of them for the rest of the season, and one of them with the extent of Caitlin Clark, the team is feeling the impact of her absence keenly.
The Clark Effect
The Stephanie White-led team fell in the first Playoff game to the Atlanta Dream 80-68 at the Gateway Center.
After the loss, Indiana must secure a win in the second game on Tuesday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse if they want to avoid elimination. By doing so, they would force a third game, in which they must go for it all to advance.
However, it has been Clark’s absence that has been felt the most. And not only because of his play, but because fans have opted not to attend games knowing that the 23-year-old point guard will not be on the courts.
This has led to fans being able to access tickets for the second Fever-Dream game for as low as $8, as reported by @TickPick.
In addition, CC’s absence is joined by Damiris Dantas, Sophie Cunningham, Aari McDonald, Sydney Colson and Chloe Bibby rounding out the injured list, the team can only count on the former with a chance to return to the game.
Sure, Aliyah Boston, Lexie Hull or Kelsey Mitchell are big draws for Fever fans, but it’s undeniable that not seeing Clark on the court has hit fans hard.
