Despite having several rivals lined up for his next fight, Canelo Alvarez has remained silent about the fight he is planning for May 2025 and the opponent he would face in the face of rejection of David Benavidez.
But now information emerges from elsewhere about who the next opponent could be and it would be one of those already mentioned in the past and it is not Terence Crawford.
William Scull reveals that his team and Canelo Team are in talks
The International Boxing Federation (IBF) demanded that Saul Alvarez fight his challenger William Scull (23-0) in September, but the Mexican chose Edgar Berlanga and the IBF took away his belt and with it the undisputed champion tag.
By leaving the title vacant, the organization faced Scull and Vladimir Shishkin (16-1) to declare its champion and the victory went to the Cuban, who confirmed approaches with the Mexican’s team.
“The thing is that there are three offers, really. There’s (Edgar) Berlanga, there’s Canelo and at one point there was talk of (Christian) Mbilli, but I think that’s gone by the wayside because the offer is not very good.
But we are aiming to unify with Canelo Alvarez.
“Now on January 10 we will see each other (to talk). We will be informing you of what is coming, but this is going to be a great year, there is going to be a fight for me to keep dreaming and keep making history,” he told the Puños Cubanos YouTube channel.
William Scull has already shared a composite image on his Instagram account where he includes Canelo Alvarez and himself with the record of both and ranking of the Super Middleweights of Boxrec, where the Guadalajara native appears as number one and the Cuban as tenth.
