Will Lane Kiffin leave the NCAA? The possibility of the Ole Miss head coach moving to the NFL is gaining traction

Lane Kiffin has several paths ahead in his football coaching career. He could go to another NCAA team, as several are interested in acquiring his services, or he could also make it to the NFL. It’s true, the rumor that the mastermind behind Ole Miss will return to the NFL to reunite with someone with whom he achieved great things in the past is gaining traction.

Kiffin has the Rebels right where he wants them as playoff draft Sunday approaches, with an overall record of 9-1 and only one loss. That might cost them a spot in the SEC Championship, but probably not in the playoffs, given how highly the draft committee views the Rebels, naming them the No. 7 team in the latest Top 25 rankings heading into this weekend.

Lane Kiffin linked to Florida Gators and LSU Tigers

In recent weeks, Ole Miss Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin has been linked to the Gators after Florida fired Billy Napier. Kiffin received an automatic one-year extension with Ole Miss after defeating Oklahoma. However, he has yet to sign the more lucrative contracts the program has offered him, leaving open the possibility that he could leave the Rebels for a job at Florida or LSU before 2026.

Training camp. That kind of stuff. I think that’s changed and will continue to change

During his press conference on Monday, Kiffin explained what appeals to him about a job in college football. He argued that, nowadays, how a program funds its likeness rights is more important than its facilities. “People used to talk about facilities,” Kiffin said. “Training camp. That kind of stuff. I think that’s changed and will continue to change.”

Lane Kiffin could reunite with Jaxson Dart on the New York Giants

It sounds crazy, but it’s true. Rumors are linking the Rebels’ NCAA coach to the New York Giants of the NFL. The reason? Jaxson Dart, the young quarterback of the Big Apple team who has had a phenomenal season in the NFL. Dart and Kiffin formed one of Ole Miss’s most lethal duos between 2022 and 2024.

In just three seasons, Dart rewrote the Rebels’ record books, completing 735 of 1,118 passes (65.7%) for 10,617 yards, 72 touchdowns, and 22 interceptions. With a passer rating of 162.8 and an average of 272.2 yards per game in 39 games, he left Oxford as the university’s all-time leader in passing yards. The coach-quarterback duo seemed inseparable.
