MLB is one of the sports in the United States that has very accurate scouting to detect young people with a great future on the ballparks. In the world of baseball, “future stars” are chosen for their performance in the Minor Leagues, although they are rarely taken into account to be part of the Major Leagues. However, New York Yankees has observed George Lombard Jr as the next successor of the Bronx.

At just 19 years of age, Lombard Jr has caught the eye with his play at shortstop or third base and as time goes on he has gained muscle. “You’ll see, the power is real, the big league pedigree is real,” was the opinion of Bryan Hoch, a faithful member of the Yankees who also mentioned that he has proven to be able to handle the competition.

Why has Lombard Jr been compared to the great Alex Rodriguez?

Alex Rodriguez revolutionized baseball in the late 1990s and 2000s. A-Rod debuted at just 18 years old and became a star two years later. He is identified by his power, athleticism and exceptional IQ. The same characteristics are now seen in Lombard Jr. At such a young age, he exudes a level of maturity rarely identified in his peers.

The young player currently plays for the High-A Hudson Valley, where he has a .285 batting average with 10 home runs and 25 RBIs in just 50 games, a performance that speaks volumes about his ability and offers a glimpse of his future.

Bryan Hoch and his experience outside of Major League Baseball

Hoch’s opinion is one of the most heard voices in the Major League Baseball world, where he welcomed the arrival of Aaron Judge to the Bronx, as well as Giancarlo Stanton, and who also saw with optimism the arrival of A-Rod. Undoubtedly, he has had an analytical and accurate eye to detect the players who will contribute to the performance of the New York Yankees.

“When I talk to him, I feel like he’s a teenage Alex Rodriguez, just in terms of his confidence, his maturity. I think this kid is going to be a major league star,” Hoch said, highlighting the remarkable demeanor Lombard Jr. has shown, having grown up surrounded by the sport thanks to his father’s brief experience in the majors, but where Goerge Jr. will seek to extend the legacy for many more years and with the success that New York fans want to see.
