The Dallas Cowboys are always looking for ‘the year’. It’s becoming a trend for every Cowboys fan to irritate the rest of the league’s followers and his circle with the redundant phrase ‘this is our year‘. Well, Jerry Jones certainly made a move this offseason that will give another weapon for Dak Prescott and help him return to top quarterback play this 2025 season.
George Pickens was acquired via trade form the Pittsburgh Steelers and it looks like him and Ceedee Lamb could be one of the premier wide receiver duos in the league. Obviously, Pickens needs to adapt to the offense, but the talent is undeniable. The thing that may be worrying ‘Jerry World‘? George’s constant emotional public miscues that eventually surfeited the Steelers enough to trade him.
George Pickens looks and sounds happy with the Dallas Cowboys
After some of his first workouts, Pickens let the media know that he is feeling good as a member of America’s team, “Oh yeah, it’s been a good thing”, said the pass catcher. “We’re getting better and better every time. Learning the plays the more I’m here and then get the minutiae of how (Prescott) wants to run his plays. So we’re connecting for sure.”
There is a report that Dak Prescott invited every skill player in the Cowboys offense to a trip with the purpose of gelling the players together. Pickens has appointed himself and commended the opportunity, “I did (the trip) my rookie year (also), but this is definitely a whole another level. I’m looking forward to doing it. Here we are in meetings, on a time constraint, but we’re going to build a brotherhood over there. That’s really the most important part.”
George Pickens, a new weapon for Dak Prescott
Last year, Prescott suffered an injury that ended his season after 8 games. Cooper Rush and Trey Lance weren’t adequate replacements for the team to thrive, but even before the injury, Prescott‘s game wasn’t exactly top of the league showing. After being ruled out, Prescott wasn’t top 8 in any major quarterback stat (passing yards, completion percentage and passing touchdowns).
The thing is, 2 seasons ago, in 2023, Prescott was on fire, having arguably the best individual season of his career and even ending second in MVP voting, just behind Lamar Jackson. The aim is for the offense and Prescott to get back to that rythm, numbers, productivity and, in the end, achieve team success through the playoffs. Maybe George Pickens can be that answer for the Dallas Cowboys.
